Project overview

As a freelance eLearning Developer, I designed and developed a scenario-based training module for a Community Senior Center, focused on digital safety. This sample highlights a key section of a larger course, using realistic scenarios and interactive exercises to help learners identify phishing attempts, suspicious links, and common online risks, with real-time feedback to reinforce safe decision-making.

I led the project end-to-end, including needs analysis, content development, scripting, voiceover, and multimedia production. Built in Articulate 360, with assets created in Canva and Adobe Creative Cloud, the course delivers an engaging, accessible learning experience tailored to older adult learners.

Design Process

  • This cybersecurity awareness module is designed for senior citizens to strengthen essential digital safety skills and build confidence online. Through scenario-based learning, it helps learners identify phishing attempts, suspicious links, and common online threats, with a focus on real-world application and safe digital practices.

  • 1. Analyze

    Identified the core challenge: many older adult learners struggle to confidently recognize and respond to digital threats. Assessed learner needs, prior knowledge, and common online risks to define the focus and accessibility requirements of the module.

    2. Design

    Developed a storyboard mapping the learning flow, scenario-based exercises, multimedia content, and interactive decision points. Defined clear learning objectives, assessments, and engagement strategies to ensure the experience was intuitive, accessible, and supportive for senior learners.

    3. Develop

    Built the module in Articulate 360 using scenario-based branching interactions. Designed interactive quizzes with real-time feedback and developed multimedia elements to support an engaging, accessible learning experience. Created immersive, scenario-based content to reinforce real-world decision-making and improve learner engagement.

    4. Evaluate

    Conducted user testing to assess clarity, usability, and learning effectiveness for senior learners. Incorporated feedback to refine scenarios, instructions, and multimedia elements. Added immediate feedback mechanisms to reinforce safe decision-making and improve confidence in applying skills.

Problem

Older adult learners often struggle to confidently identify and respond to digital threats like phishing emails and suspicious links. CyberSafe: Cybersecurity Awareness Training Module
